More details

Our Board of Trustees (known as Council), Co-opted members of Trustee committees and Advisory Board members are a vital part of Battersea, bringing their considerable experience and skills along with real enthusiasm and commitment to these crucial roles to support the delivery of our ambitious organisational strategy.

To bring greater depth of skills in this area to our Board of Trustees, support our organisational strategy and build diversity of experience into the Board we are looking for
• A legal expert, currently operating at partner or senior partner level in a top 50 UK based law firm
• A property expert, currently operating at Director level in a large UK-based organisation, responsible for a complex operational property portfolio and large Capex programmes

You will join our Board of Trustees who meet six times a year for a half-day meeting with the Chief Executive and Directors, and for a full-day annual strategy review. You will also be a member of one of our committee’s or advisory boards, which meet quarterly. The property expert will become a member of the governance group for our Battersea Old Windsor Cattery building programme, which will meet bi-monthly. There may also be ad-hoc requests for additional support and input.

Trustees are also encouraged to meet staff, volunteers, supporters, take part in shadowing our activities, attend trustee training and to attend fundraising and other events, wherever possible.

The role is an appointment for an initial term of three years and may be extended up to a total of nine years. This is a volunteer unremunerated role, and is subject to references deemed satisfactory to Battersea and to meeting Charity Commission trustee eligibility requirements.
